Research

Nuclear matter, reactor cores, and the questions between.

My research sits in theoretical and nuclear physics, with a current focus on reactor neutronics and the modelling of a small modular reactor concept for Nigeria.

02 Current research

PhD / Ongoing

Small modular reactors and the grid.

The doctoral project is a research focus, not a finished reactor design. No performance, safety or deployment claims are made.

PhD research

Neutronic Analysis and Core Optimization of a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Concept for Grid Integration in Nigeria

Ongoing

This is the research focus of my current PhD in Theoretical Physics at the University of Port Harcourt. The work sits at the intersection of reactor physics and energy systems: how a small modular reactor concept might be modelled and optimised, and what its integration into Nigeria’s electricity system could involve.

The project is ongoing. No results, performance figures, or deployment outcomes are claimed here. As the work develops, reviewed material will be added through the site’s Markdown content system.

Research areas: reactor neutronics, core optimisation, nuclear energy, and scientific modelling.

Status note: This page describes an active research focus, not a completed reactor design or a deployed technology.

Work in progress, stated plainly.

Both papers below are in preparation. They have not been published or peer reviewed, and no venue or acceptance is implied.

Non-linear Vector Meson Self-interaction in Relativistic Mean Field Theory

Theoretical nuclear physics work related to vector-meson self-interaction and relativistic mean field modelling.

Read the status note

This paper is in preparation. It develops work related to my M.Sc. thesis, The Effect of Vector Meson on the Ground State Properties of Nuclear Matter in the Relativistic Mean Field Theory (University of Port Harcourt, 2024).

The topic concerns the description of nuclear matter within relativistic mean field theory and the role of non-linear vector-meson self-interaction. The manuscript has not been published or peer reviewed.

Status note: “In preparation” means exactly that. No publication venue, acceptance, or peer-review claim is implied.

  • Nuclear matter
  • Relativistic mean field theory
  • Vector mesons

Analytical Solution of the Advection-Diffusion Equation for Radioactive Effluent Dispersion

Work focused on an analytical treatment of the advection-diffusion equation and the dispersion of radioactive effluent.

Read the status note

This paper is in preparation. It grows out of my Postgraduate Diploma thesis, Dispersion of Radioactive Effluent from Nuclear Power Stations (University of Port Harcourt, 2019).

The work concerns an analytical treatment of the advection-diffusion equation as a model for radioactive effluent dispersion. It has not been published or peer reviewed.

Status note: No dispersion results, safety conclusions, or publication claims are presented here.

  • Advection-diffusion
  • Radioactive effluent
  • Environmental modelling
